We created cultural probes so we could find out more about people who live with long term conditions. Cultural probes are little packs that are given to people and filled out by them without the researcher being present. They often contain cameras or diaries so when delivered back a detailed and visual picture can be built up of someone’s life around a subject matter you were investigating.
We place emphasis on the way people feel. Inside our ALISS diaries we asked participants to keep a day by day write up of what they were doing, how they were feeling and why.
